
Mercy Chepkemoi and Emmanuel Kiprono emerged as champions in the 5,000m event at the ongoing Rift Valley Secondary Schools Sports Association (RVSSSA) games held at the University of Eldoret.
Chepkemoi, a finalist in both the 5,000m and 3,000m events at the World Under-20 Championships in Lima, Peru, clocked 16:18.3 to take the victory.
On the boys’ side, Kiprono triumphed over Kelvin Kiprop, securing first place with a time of 14:12.8. Kiprop, who has previously won the Chepsaita Cross Country, Discovery Kenya Cross Country, and Sirikwa Classic Cross Country, finished second with a time of 14:19.8.
AAthletics Kenya (AK), through Youth Development Director Branaba Korir reterated the federations committment to supporting the athletes ” We continue to closely monitor and support these athletes as part of our Youth Development Program, ensuring they receive the guidance and opportunities needed to reach their full potential.” Korir said.
